School Services

Centre for Special Education(CSE)

CSE is a multi-dimensional, co-educational school dedicated to providing education, therapy, counselling and a network of support services for children with cerebral palsy and their families. The school aims to provide a broad-based, holistic learning experience for children with special educational needs, giving them an opportunity to realise their highest potential. Run by experienced and qualified staff, it is a demonstration centre for trainees and professionals from all over the country and abroad.

Facilities Available For Students

Students are offered curricula that take into the account their strengths and needs.

Special Learning Unit

Specialised teaching is provided to children with severe learning disabilities.

Computer Training

Computers are used for teaching communication and as writing tools. Some students have Computer Studies as a subject.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a fundamental aspect of any programme for children with cerebral palsy.

Hydrotherapy

All students are given the opportunity to use the hydrotherapy facilities under the careful guidance of trained therapists.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Speech Therapy

For students with complex communication need, alternate methods of communication are provided. This is called AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication are provided.

Counselling and Guidance

A team of trained social workers provide counselling and guidance to students and their families.

Family Services

Out Patients Department

Out Patients Department (OPD) provides services to families in Kolkata, the districts of West Bengal, other states and neighboring countries.

Diagnostic Clinic

Children with cerebral palsy are admitted for on-going management .Infants aged between 2 weeks - 2 years with a history of birth difficulties are screened for possible indications of neuro-motor (movement) problems.

Neurology Clinic

A neurologist is available for consultation twice a month. Appointments are given in advance through the social worker

Early Intervention

Trained therapists, special educators and social workers assess the physical, functional, cognitive & communication abilities of babies (0-2 years)

ACE (Assessment & Counselling in Education) Services for students in mainstream schools

This offers comprehensive assessment and guidance services for all children in main stream school, with or without disabilities, facing academic, behavioral and emotional difficulties.

Aids and Appliances

 Advice is given to parents about special furniture, shoes or orthotic appliances according to the needs of child.

Sishu Sathi, Outreach Clinic at Salt Lake

This clinic offers services to children residing in the northern, eastern and the north eastern suburbs of Kolkata.

Vocational training & placements

Services of this section are open to persons above 18 years with cerebral palsy, and others with orthopedic and locomotor impairments, mild to moderate learning difficulties and hearing impairment.
